How Long Does It Take for Google to Find Your New Website?
You launched your new website, maybe even bought a domain, added your business info, and now you’re excited to see it show up on Google. So you search your business name… and nothing comes up.
This is one of the most common questions we hear:
How long does it take for a website to show up on Google?
The short answer is, it depends. The long answer is what we’re going to break down here.
Google Doesn’t Index Sites Instantly
When a new website goes live, Google has to find it, explore it, and decide how to rank it. This process is called indexing, and it does not happen right away.
If your website is brand new, has no links pointing to it, and hasn’t been submitted to Google, it might take a few days to a few weeks to appear in search results.
How Google Finds New Websites
Google uses automated software called “crawlers” to browse the internet. These crawlers find new websites by:
Following links from other websites
Discovering new domains
Receiving sitemap submissions through Google Search Console
If no other websites are linking to yours and you haven’t submitted it to Google, it may take much longer for your site to be discovered.
Speed It Up with Google Search Console
One of the best things you can do is set up Google Search Console. It’s free and gives you tools to tell Google, “Hey, I have a new website. Please take a look.”
Once you verify your site and submit your sitemap, it usually gets indexed faster. Some pages may show up in a few days. Others may still take a bit longer, depending on your site and content.
We recommend using the URL Inspection Tool inside Search Console to submit individual pages as soon as they’re ready.
Other Ways to Get Noticed Faster
If you want Google to take your site seriously from the start, here are a few things that help:
Share your website link on your social media profiles
Add your business to Google Business Profile
List your site in relevant online directories
Ask a few friends, partners, or suppliers to link to it from their own websites
These small actions send signals to Google that your site is active and worth indexing.
How to Know If Your Site Is Indexed
There’s a simple way to check.
Go to Google and type:site:yourdomain.com
This tells Google to show every page it has indexed for your domain. If nothing shows up, it means your site hasn’t been indexed yet or there’s something blocking it.
If you have submitted your site and still nothing appears after a few weeks, it may be worth checking for issues like:
Pages accidentally set to noindex
Slow load times or technical errors
Poor mobile compatibility
This is something we include in our website maintenance plans because it’s easy to miss if you’re not checking regularly.
Be Patient but Proactive
It’s normal for it to take some time before your website shows up on Google, especially if your domain is new and you haven’t added much content yet. The important thing is to keep making progress.
Add content, share your site, and use tools like Google Search Console to stay in control.
Google is always crawling, but you can make it easier for them to find you.
